I just submitted my photos for America 24/7!

America 24/7 is a really interesting project, where thousands of digital photographers (amateur, student, and professional) all over America spent the week of May 12-18 taking pictures of everyday life wherever they were.

Want to read more about it? click here: America 24/7 | About the Project

Since the weather has been so icky, and it was such a busy, eventful week for us, I wasn’t able to take many pictures, but I did submit 4 out of a possible 7 entries. I am pretty excited about the project, I can’t wait to see what pictures they choose from the thousands that are being submitted.

If you would like to see the photos I submitted you can view them here:

I don’t think I am allowed to publish them in any way online until after the judges make their final decision (which won’t be until this fall) and I guess that includes posting them here, but you can view the album by clicking the link above. I think you need to sign up for a free Snapfish account to get in, but Snapfish is pretty cool anyway. They print photos (digital and regular) make nifty photo products at pretty reasonable prices, and you can store your photos in albums online too. And you get your first prints free just for opening an account. (geeze, I sound like a commeercial)

Participating in America 24/7 was a bit of a challenge for me, also, since I am accustomed to using photos, especially digital ones, as the raw materials for finished art, not as a separate statement unto themselves. The rules strictly forbid any cropping, retouching, or image manipulating of any kind. It has been a long time since I have thought in terms of “snapshots” since I pretty much gave up on standard format photography once I got my digital camera and discovered the whole new world of possibilities it opened for me.

***Pred Monster update: I did get a little sleep this morning. Finally nodded out about 5 AM and then got up to let the dogs out and feed the cat at about 7. I am not feeling too odd right now, but I will be taking my next dose at lunchtime. Then I suppose I will be back on the Merry Go Round again, watching the world swirl by and hopefully not falling off as I grab for the brass ring. I haven’t eaten all the groceries yet, that’s one good thing. Actually, I didn’t even start on my pint of ice cream! And I smelled the garlic in the dinner I was cooking. So strong fragrances are coming through already. I am breathing deeper than I have in a while, too, actually doing a lot of conscious deep breathing in an effort to cope with the jittery feelings from the medication.

I think I will ask Bernie to get me Decaf coffee this morning to go with my Saturday Crossword!

okay, so there is a Sunday crossword in this picture. So sue me!

I watched this movie on cable late last night. It was sort of a good story, but I was disappointed with the way it ended.
