Bedroom Project Update
time for more pictures!
Still more to do, but the biggest stuff is finished.
Bernie now calls this room “the Princess bedroom” It is radically different in decorating style from any other room in the house. I decided that since it is in the far back of the house, it could be a “fantasy room”, to be completely different from the rest of the house. And it is.
Someday I will post more pictures of the rest of the house so you can see what I mean. Especially the difference between this bedroom and Bernie’s bedroom (still not done yet, either, but not as big a project)
Sorry, some of these pictures are not really clear. I promise better ones next time.

the little rocking chair in the corner is going to be refinished and reupholstered…that is my biggest remaining project for this room. Also on the to-do list: wall sconce lights above the bed (on their way, from an eBay auction) hanging artwork on walls, finishing the sewing of tablecloths and dresser scarves….

The little lamp next to the bed will be going on the table by the rocking chair, as soon as I get the wall sconces up. I also need to finish the table in front of the window (which will be moving from that spot when I finish building the dogs’ bed, which will be going in that spot in front of the window) Also on to-do list: attaching the headboard (still in the garage waiting for paint to dry) to the bed. The comforter for the bed
needs to be laundered before it goes on, since it has been in my basement for a while. But it is too big for my machine, so I have to go to the laundromat with it and a couple of other bulky items. Not a chore I look forward to
window at the foot of the bed
I decided to put the chest at the foot of the bed instead of under the window. This way I can sit on it and look out the window, rather than sit with my back to the window. (sometimes I get smart)
also on the to-do list: putting all that laundry away!

Individual Projects
old cedar chest
padded and upholstered
old “Cinderella Coach” TV lamp with no lamp parts
now
with its wheels straightened and a fresh coat of gold paint, rewired with all brand new lamp parts, and some silk flowers. I may still put lace curtains in the windows…
my old birdcage
now looks like this
remember this ugly thing?
with a little padding, some nice fabric and my staple gun, it became this great little vanity seat.
And has storage inside, too! I have enough fabric left for the little rocking chair, and some dresser scarves…
My little bargain clearance sale “as is” damaged shelf which looked like this after being repaired and getting its first coat of paint
gilded and antiqued
to match the headboard, which is still in the garage drying.
The 3 little candleholders, also bought from a clearance sale table for $2 each, will go on this shelf up above the bed. They were white wire with glass inserts, but a little spray paint and now they’re gold, to reflect the gold wire motif from the carriage light and birdcage.
Well, that’s about it for now. I am not working as much on this room now, just fine tuning here and there at my leisure. I have been taking care of some of the other house and yard work and projects that are screaming at me…
And I have been taking time to enjoy my comfy new bed, too.

You never cease to amaze me! BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL! I was so thrilled when I checked your blog and saw more pictures. I love seeing your transformation. It’s truly magical. I’m curios about one thing though?? are they baseboards in the room or electric baseboard heaters? Its hard to tell from the pics. I am re-doing my sons room and he has baseboard heaters in it which are NEVER used…was afraid to paint them in case there would ever be an emergency and we would need to. His room was an addition and it is still a mystery as to why they installed those heaters in there when the room is heated by the rest of the household heating system. Anyway, looking for a solution to cover up that ugly old metal! Yuk! That is the one feature in this house I would love to have ripped out but the husband says no way! Any suggestions?
I’m amazed and astounded at your creativity. I haven’t got half an ounce of it!
Dammit!! They already used “amaze” and “astound”!!! grrr….Okay…. I am in AWE of you! I can’t even IMAGINE having that kind of energy, much less, imagination and ability! You are incredible! How about coming out to SC to do our apartment?
I’m really hoping that if I get the gastric by-pass surgery, I’ll be able to find some of that energy you have!

Oh, my GOD, that room is beautiful! I absolutely love the colors – you used all my favorites. I want so badly to have a bedroom that looks like that, like a BEDroom, feminine and pretty and blue
Our bedroom looks like an office, and a messy one at that, with a bed in it. It’s supposed to be my summer project, but my motivation seems to have taken a wrong turn on the way to June. Anyway, love it, you did a fantastic job

Glad to be back home-:) So I’m back- I’ll be reading up on your immense projects and to do lists once again
