    So here are some pictures…

(for more commentary that goes with these, see the previous entry below)

my one-of a kind, original design headboard — now on my bed!

And since I have been talking so much about the kitchen — here it is!

the dining area of the kitchen (the house hasn’t got a formal dining room) — this is where the wrought iron furniture will go when refinishing is completed, and new tabletop built — windows on left overlook front porch, where there are more wrought iron railings — the black blob on the chair in front of the window is Tom, our cat, it’s his favorite spot.

reupholstered seat for kitchen chair — 2″ thick padding, covered with fabric and then thick clear vinyl (to make them spill proof!)

kitchen chair with old seat – chairs need to be stripped and repainted black – now they are black with pink showing through the chipped paint

legs for kitchen table – tabletop will be made of Ponderosa Pine, stained to match existing cabinets

the other side of the kitchen — see how nice my updated snackbar stools look?

the kitchen sink with its pile of dishes — that ugly harvest gold dishwasher is soon to be replaced with a nice new white one that is in the garage — new fridge is on left — that’s our kitchen door entrance from the breezeway behind the fridge, and another doorway to the living room – windows look out on breezeway

the other kitchen wall — built in china cabinet and all-important dog dining area —  doorway on left goes to living room — that black blob with the eyes is Pearl

the light that burnt out its wires was up there — now just need to decide what would look good here to replace it

The kitchen rennovations are going to be done over a long time frame - possibly a couple of years. I plan to get new flooring and countertops in a more neutral color, and replace those plastic backsplash tiles with ceramic ones, also in a more neutral color. When the countertops are done, I hope to replace the stove with a built-in oven and cooktop, and get a new kitchen sink, too (porcelain is very worn on the old one) Once the floors and countertops are toned down, I think I will paint the walls in a slightly deeper yellow color, in a satin finish, and maybe stencil a border of green ivy leaves on it. I intend to leave the green inside the china cabinet as an accent color, and incorporate it into the overall color scheme.

That’s all for now —  I still have a pile of dishes to do!

  • so warm and inviting !

  • All looks very good – nice if someone really manages to personalize the house…

Re: My website – Yes, I did some major restructuring a while ago, involving some friends, different browsers, and I think I’ve got it down for most of them…

There’s still some little things that Netscape does odd, but nothing problematic…

Re: stickman – the advantage is, that I look great in skirts and tight shirt

  • I want your kitchen bar, your cabinets, and your headboard. What, you weren’t taking orders?! Seriously, nice, one day we’ll work on these projects in our home. You’re doing a great job on yours!

  • Everything looks so wonderful.  You are very talented and have a sharp eye for what’s pretty.  I like the choice of material for the chair seats!

I wanted to say that I think it’s great that you’re able to continue to live in the home your parents owned.  It must seem so familiar and “right”… I’m not wording this right… Hopefully, you’ll understand.

  • p.s.  I have more dirty dishes than YOU do!!!  :p  LOL
