Some more plant pictures:
Hoya (Wax Plant) hanging on my breezeway.
I have had this plant for about 5 years now, it needs to be repotted soon. It blooms almost all summer, but the clusters of flowers face the floor, so they are sometimes hard to see. both the leaves and the flowers really do look like they are made of wax. Each cluster of flowers blooms on a central bud-stem thing, which just keeps getting longer with age, and when one cluster of flowers are finished, another replaces it on the same structure. Not sure exactly what the term for this is, but its pretty cool. These are really easy plants to grow. I have never known anyone who was able to kill one.
Gazanias on my patio.
These are the best flowers I have found for growing in this planter, and this location which is very hot and gets dry quickly, and most plants just fry there. Especially since it only holds 5″ pots, which really don’t hold much soil and water. Gazanias do well in really hot, dry conditions. Their flowers close up at night and open in the daytime. When they are half open they remind me of badminton shuttlecocks (“birdies”). They are another plant that I fell in love with when I worked at the nursery many years ago. I usually plant yellow and orange shades, but this year I went with a pink assortment.
A Pair of Patio Tomato plants.
These baffle me. They were identical plants, planted in the same size pots and same soil, ant treated alike. But the one on the right looks so much healthier than the one on the left. They are just beginning to produce sweet little cherry tomatoes that we have been eating in salads.
The old spring chair between them was one of last year’s projects, it was all covered in rust, falling apart, and on the way to the trash when I rescued it and restored it. The cushion is taken off in this picture because it was beginning to rain and a storm was on the way.
Its a rainy, icky muggy weekend. We didn’t go to camp, and I am glad. At least here we get more TV channels
I thought some pretty flowers would be a good thing on such an ugly weekend.

maybe the location, but they are only about 4 feet apart…
I adore plants…………my grandmother had a Hoya that was 30 years old……..I received it when she passed on to the other side, but through a 2000 mile move, kidz, cats, etc…..it almost died…….it had been a HUGE plant. I did salvage a piece and it grows anew. Strangely, since Gram died, the plant has not flowered….hmmm…… enjoy your weekend
Flowers are exactly what’s needed for a weekend like this. I kill most everything green, but I got some beautiful white roses from my sweetie, so at least I have something pretty to look at for a while
oooooooooooo !!! I need to get that wax plant..very nice pictures…love the bench
That Hoya is very pretty. I can see it as a hanging plant, up high, with a lot of pods of flowers hanging downward. :)
That wax plant looks so cool–I need one of those!! :D
I have yet to find a plant that I COULDN’T kill, so I may have to give the wax plant a try
That chair is really cool, btw.
Wax plant…maybe even I can keep it going
Your yard looks lovely
That wax plant looks like a philodendrum (sp?), but I’ve never seen them flower, so it must be differet.
Those flowers look like verbena. I love plants!
I like the upsidedown bouquet of flowers. I think simply because it is upsidedown, different, unusual. I tend to kill plants and such…maybe one day.
I LOVE the wax plant and the Gazanias!!! You’re a planting Queen this year. Isn’t wonderful… planting things and watching them grow… being surrounded by such natural beauty? Between your camping trips and flowers – I envy you this summer. Enjoy sweetie.. as it sounds like you are! :star:
