I have volunteered to be a part of an experiment. Something that may possibly change my life in a very positive manner.
And yesterday was the first day.
Curious?
Well, here’s the story… my dear friend Andrew is a distributor for a product called Supergreens. They are a powdered supplement that you mix with water. He started using Supergreens himself more than a year ago, as a part of a complete dietary and lifestyle change. And it was like a miracle for him. He lots loads of weight and is healthier and more energetic than ever, his allergies virtually disappeared, and he looks great, too.
So what is this green stuff?
Supergreens, and a companion product, called LiquidLighting Prime pH, were developed by Doctor Robert Young, as part of his Alkalarian diet and lifestyle. He has a theory that nearly all maladies, including overweight, fatigue and even allergies, are directly or indirectly related to over acidification of the body, which can lead to overgrowth of yeast and fungus in the body and general overall toxicity. Dr. Young developed a nutritional approach to alkalinization of the body, and thousands of people have had nearly miraculous results following this regime.
The core of the Alkalarian lifestyle is based on hydrating the body with alkaline water. We are 70% water, and all of our bodies’ systems rely on a delicate balance of water. Often we think we are hungry when we are just thirsty. Very few people drink enough water to keep the body properly hydrated, and due to the buildup of acid wastes in the body, water with an acidic or neutral pH is unable to properly clear the wastes from our cells. By hydrating with lots of alkaline water, the body is able to neutralize and gently flush away the acid wastes, and counteract the over-acidification of tissues, which Doctor Young considers a major component of the aging process.
The complete Alkalarian plan
(seems to work really well, but definitely not an option for me)
Drinking 4 liters of water a day, with Supergreens (for vitamins, minerals and amino acids), and Prime pH (which acts as water and oxygen catalyst in the bloodstream) added, is the first step in the Alkalarian lifestyle. To follow Doctor Young’s complete nutritional plan, the diet is radically changed to a completely vegan diet, concentrating on mostly alkaline foods, and avoiding acidic or acid producing foods. It also focuses on raw or lightly cooked foods, mostly eaten at room temperature (no hot foods) There are also several other specifically targeted supplements which can be included.
Andrew, who lives alone and was already eating a partially vegetarian diet, was willing and able to use not only the nutritional supplements, including Supergreens and Prime pH, but also to completely adopt the Alkalarian diet. As I was helping him purge his kitchen cupboards last year of all the foods he would no longer be eating, I told him I admired his efforts, but there was no way I could make such a change. First of all, I am pretty adamant about not giving up certain things myself, and second, I don’t want to prepare and eat completely different meals for myself and my husband.
But for a person who is willing and able to make these changes, I think, just from seeing my friend’s progress, that this Doctor Young is onto something for sure…
So what about this Big Experiment?
This is where I come into the picture. I am more than 100 pounds overweight, and suffer from quite a few physical challenges for which the Alkalarian diet is supposed to be beneficial. I have already seen Andrew’s allergies virtually disappear, and the changes in his skin and hair, but he has told me that other people have had positive results in balancing blood sugar, no longer experiencing heartburn and acid reflux, and even arthritis and other joint maladies. According to Doctor Young, a person who does nothing more than just hydrating with alkaline water, using the Prime pH and Supergreens, will have a 60%-80% benefit, without changing their diet in any way.
Andrew asked me this spring if I would like to try Supergreens and Prime pH for a month, and do nothing else, and see what happens. I was also wondering if I could achieve any of the benefits, without changing over to the the radical diet he eats. So I figured – what the heck, I’ll give it a shot. Since I was in the middle of a nasty sinus infection and had some other health issues, I decided to wait a little while. Meanwhile, I had a complete set of blood tests, which will be great for comparing afterward, too.
Okay, so my health is a mess, or pretty much on the way to becoming one…
The doctor told me that my sugar was a bit high in the blood test, and that I should cut back on sugar and calories, and be tested again in 6 months. I am very serious about this change, as adult onset diabetes runs in my family, and I am, after all, quite overweight. I am not unhappy with my weight for appearance issues, I accept myself as a Goddess-sized woman, but when it starts creating health problems, I acknowledge the need to lose at least some of my excess weight.
I also know that my diet was getting unhealthy lately, and my elevated sugar intake was coming mostly from drinking sweet beverages, something I was never prone to do, but I had just fallen into the habit over the past year or so, since they were there and handy (Bernie is a big soda and sweet drink consumer) So over the last month, I have been very conscious of my beverage choices, and trying to eliminate unnecessary sugars and fats elsewhere, without actually “going on a diet”. I lost about 10 pounds since the end of winter, when I had hit an all-time high in my weight.
That’s a start, seems as good a time as any for this Experiment.
So with these changes in place, and my sinus infection and asthma finally under control, I decided that August would be a good month for The Big Experiment. I am on my second day of Supergreens and Prime pH. Carrying a bottle of funny green water around with me, and trying to drink 4 liters a day.
Yesterday, I was only able to drink 3. I just wasn’t thirsty enough, probably because I spent half the day napping
But today I am on my second liter, and so far, I think my body is flushing toxins like crazy. At least I am flushing like crazy. But I know from experience that whenever I haven’t been drinking enough water and I go back to consuming 3 or 4 quarts day, I will sped the first few days in the bathroom, before my body gets used to the change. Then I go back to a normal potty schedule.
It is too soon to tell if any other changes have happened. Andrew also started on the Supergreens first, and didn’t go into the complete Alkalarian diet until a month or so later, and he told me that he felt big changes after the first week. But he had also quit smoking when he started, so that was probably a big contributing factor. I am a non smoker, so at least I don’t have to detox from that!
Wish me luck!
Stay tuned to see how the experiment progresses. I may even decided to take the plunge and publicly post my weight (now there’s a real incentive to lose!)

P.S. You’re not showing on the list of people who subscribe to my site anymore either. GeeshaWeesha, that subscription overhaul really messed things up. SO many dropped off the sites I read, but I think I got them all back now – and I noticed that others, who normally subscribe to my site – aren’t there on my list of people who read me either. Gotta luv XangaLand lol Be back tomorrow
((((((((hugs)))))) Kimberly
P.S. I hit a button, did a few weird things (not even sure what) and poof you’re back on the other people who read me list again. I give, I give *throws in white towel*
Good luck. Sounds like it might just be the incentive needed to get your health back on track
Good luck on that. Gosh, I don’t think I could do the Vegan thing. I like meat too much.
Thanks for your suggestion about socializing Solon. I am going to do exactly that! I will let you know how it goes!
Wow, this sounds interesting, I’ll be curious to see if it works as well as it did for your friend. I assume you will keep us posted?
Good luck, I hope you get great results!
i was taking greens plus for a while and i can say it was very beneficial but too $$$ for me to continue.
good luck!
Hmmm… You were quite pretty (a year before I was born)… So, here’s to getting to that weight again!…
Good luck for that, and the general health issues. Nothing further to offer at the moment – better call it a day, to make full use of the ‘heat wave’ we have, tomorrow!…
Wow, good for you!! I can relate to your challenges, as I too was overweight and had to lose for health reasons. Through discipline and determination I managed to shed 140 pounds, and now I’m just trying to maintain my weight. I really hope this new diet will work for you: it sounds quite promising!!
Best of luck to you: I’ll be cheering you on!! :D
Wow girl, I can’t wait to hear how this goes for you! Good luck
Oh! I got a hoya…thanks for sharing those pics, I love mine…now if I can just keep it alive
The trouble with diets of all kinds is that they restrict the foods I like and want me to eat foods I definitely don’t like at all or only in tiny quantities. I need a taste-modification pill to be successful in losing weight. I wish someone would invent one.
:bighug: Wishing you the best of luck!
its really not an easy thing to change your whole life style and agree to eat/drink differntly.. i do wish you luck tho..
especially as i too suffer from similiar health problems…

You’ll have to keep us posted on how it goes. I know I could not do the vegetarian thing–been there, done it, didn’t work for me. I have low blood sugar and not having sufficient protein is a bad thing–LOL. However, I am really curious if just taking these other supplements will help out. Best of luck!! :)
