I sense Autumn coming on
The mist has hung low all day
Small birds gather on the wing
Preparing to make their way.
The trees begin to show
A trace of brown among the green
Bringing back the memories
That only you and I have seen.
I sense Autumn coming on
The sun sinking red and deep
The fires burning in the fields
As late Summer falls asleep.
The leaves begin to scatter
As the North wind calls their name
Folding gently back into
The silent earth from which they came.

Such beautiful lyrics
... poetry, that's what this is. And I do love Autumn, my kind of season completely, even with the rain.
very cool!
Yes, it's the crispness to the morning air now. The type of morning air that wakes you up as soon as it hits you --- the GREAT WEATHER. ( sorry I haven't been around....so busy upstairs in my head and in the real world -- I am back, will post later on today/this evening -- I missed you Joannie )
What a beautiful poem. Can I steal it ?! It sent a shiver down my spine and captures Autumn perfectly. Where do you find all this stuff?
It actually got me reminiscing about childhood autumns. Aaaah.. big sigh.
Thank you for posting this.

My appreciation of Dave Cousins goes way back to the early seventies, when he was writing such songs as The Hangman and the Papist and The Battle. The Battle was written as a depiction of the horrors of war, but there was also an underlying element of the progress of a game of chess running through it. (Very cleverly written.) I do take some responsibility in making their name more widely known in this country, as they were virtually unknown when I first started mentioning them across the Net several years ago - now they seem to be widely known and respected. Back in those days, Rick Wakeman was at the organ...but he later left to spend some time with Yes before branching out on a solo career.
I'm glad to see their name is getting about more in this country - in my opinion, Dave is the best songwriter of his generation.
I love the autumn. Everything always seems so crisp and fresh! This poem is wonderful!
I would also like to wish you a very Happy Birthday today! I hope you have a wonderful celebration!
Cheers!
